OUR StorY

a True labor love

In Jamaica, rum cake (also known as “black cake” or “Christmas cake”) is a staple dessert prepared by baking lovers as a symbol of love, celebration and togetherness for holidays, weddings and major events. A true labor of love, this cake has an extensive process that can begin up to a year before production day by soaking dried fruit in a rum and wine mixture. Once finished, if not left plain it is typically decorated with sweet royal icing.

 

In 2012 we began with a desire to take this popular Jamaican delight and turn it into something unique, a mini cupcake! Then to take it one step further, we decided to pair it with icing flavors that had never been featured on this rum infused delicacy before. This was the birth of Rumini Cupcakes. For the next several years we dedicated ourselves to perfecting the recipe of our rum cake base, and carefully selected the five icing flavors we wanted to pair with our newly discovered bite of heaven. Once we were satisfied with our Ruminis we knew we had to share it, not only with those from the Caribbean but with the world at large.
